The European Muslim Leaders Majlis EULEMA expresses its deep condolences and solidarity to all Christian Catholic believers and to the Vatican on the passing of Pope Francis

News Brussels

Many EULEMA members were honoured to meet and share a dialogue with Pope Francis in these years in the Vatican and during his apostolic journeys in Europe and in the rest of the world in his blessed meetings with our colleagues and Muslim leaders in the Kingdoms of Bahrain, Jordan and Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, with KAICIID, ICESCO, the Muslim Council of Elders, the Muslim World League, the WMCC.

The document on Human Fraternity for world peace and living together is a milestone and an educational tool for the training and the development of a culture for dialogue and peace even for the new generation of European citizens and believers. EULEMA members often quote this document as an important reference and as a concrete inspiration of Pope Francis and shaykh al-azhar imam Ahmad al-Tayyeb guidance.

We pray for the generous soul of Pope Francis and we like to honour and express gratitude for his example and teachings on social justice, human dignity and integral development, and for his action for environment and peace against any abuse of religion for hatred, discrimination and violence. We hope to develop this legacy in our interreligious dialogue and cooperation with Christians in Europe. May God Almighty bless Pope Francis, may he rest in Peace!
