The Rassemblement des Musulmans de France condemns the terrorist attack in Trappes and La Verrière

News Paris

Paris, October 23rd. The Rassemblement des Musulmans de France (RMF), chaired by EULEMA member Anouar Kbibech, has issued a statement following the deadly attack carried out on Friday 23 October 2026 in Trappes and La Verrière, which left one person dead and several injured, among them a 12-year-old girl hit by multiple gunshots.

The French National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office has taken charge of the investigation, opened in particular for murder and attempted murder in connection with a terrorist enterprise, with the aggravating circumstance that the acts were committed because of the victims’ actual or presumed membership of a particular ethnicity, nation, race or religion.

The RMF strongly condemns this terrorist and racist act of unprecedented violence. It offers its sincere condolences to the family of the victim of this barbaric act and expresses its full solidarity with the injured and their loved ones.

After the unrestrained spread of Islamophobic rhetoric in some media and among some politicians, words are now unfortunately turning into acts targeting citizens because of their presumed origin or faith, with the deliberate aim of spreading terror among the population. For this reason, the RMF calls for a collective awareness of the impact of public statements that are increasingly and openly anti-Muslim, and urges the public authorities to do everything possible to establish the exact circumstances and the real motives of the perpetrator of this heinous crime.

In these dramatic circumstances, the RMF invites all citizens to remain united and in solidarity, and not to give in to any provocation, wherever it may come from.

EULEMA joins the RMF in its condemnation, in its prayers for the victim and the injured, and in its call for unity and responsibility in public discourse across Europe.
