Abdassamad El Yazidi was born in Langen (federal state Hessen in 1975. He completed elementary school in “Dreieich” with a five year school break in Morocco, where he learned the Arabic language and studied Islam. Until 2019, El Yazidi worked as a manager in a global logistics company at Frankfurt Airport.

For many years he was community leader of the “Moadh Ibn Jabal Mosque” in Pfungstadt. From 2010 to 2013 El Yazidi was Chairman of the German Islamic Association in the Rhine-Main area. He played a key role in the structural reform of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany (ZMD) and founded the first ZMD state association in “Hessen” in March 2014, of which he was unanimously elected Chairman until 2017.

Since 2016 he has been elected General Secretary of the Central Council of Muslims. Abdassamad is involved in interreligious dialogue and organized a study trip to Morocco with Jews, Christians and Muslims in April 2015. In addition, EL Yazidi coordinated the project “Intercultural Qualification of Imams” of the Goethe Institute and founded with Marlies Horch, Daniel Neumann and Dr. J. Miksch the organization “Shoulder to Shoulder. Solidarity against anti-Semitism, racism and violence”.

El Yazidi leads also the “Mouatana – German institute of Dialogue and understanding, which aims to train and qualify Muslim youth for integration in Germany, as well as publish research and studies that contribute to promoting of the concept’s citizenship, religious dialogue and peace.

El-Yazidi participated in many international conferences in the Arab and Islamic world and made many interventions in international forums. Mr. El Yazidi can speak fluent German and Tamazight and a good English, in addition to Arabic as a mother tongue.
